Meditation aids concentration and focus, it helps to reflect on situations and increases the ability to visualise and use the imagination in a creative and positive way. Meditation for children also helps to create a “quiet time” within their busy mind, without them realising it. Sometimes children see sitting quietly as a punishment, i.e. to taking “time out” to a child, indicates a consequence for being naughty. However if we teach them that sitting quietly is a wonderful experience where they can use their imagination creatively while they are exploring this quiet time for themselves, studies have shown that this helps in behavioural issues, concentration at school also in relationships with peers and within the family unit. Introducing meditation to a person at an early age helps to encourage a more balanced and reflective adult.
