Nightlife In Marbella and Puerto Banus

I am a massive fan of the many nights promoted in the summer such as Sintillate, Kinky Malinki, Hed Kandi etc, and am always disappointed that more effort isn't made in the winter to keep things happening and Marbella nightlife really quietens down.

I have spoken with promoters who have said that they switch things off in September until May because there are not enough people in town to sustain the nights. Maybe the people would come if the venues and events were promoted, after all flights are cheap and there are some great hotel deals on the Guadalpin Banus and Vasari etc.

Europe needs a winter party venue that isn't based on red light entertainment, i.e. Amsterdam and Prague!

It would be great to see a bi-weely or monthly Sintillate event throughout the winter. I am sure this would go down well with the ex-pats !

    Salud!

    Hi Christian,

Well, with all due respect... have you been to any parties that have been organised by local promoters (Deeper, House-U, Immaculate Touch, etc.)? All have kept parties going virtually every week after the end of the summer (and still do). Instead of complaining that none of the well-established commercial brands are putting any events on, how about giving some support to local promoters who actually make an effort in the winter to produce some really quality nights, often much better than what the "big boys" are able to come up with in the middle of the summer. Most local promoters I know could really do with some more support from the Coast's winter party crowds!

Hope to see you soon! :-)

Re: Nightlife In Marbella and Puerto Banus

I'm all up for supporting local promoters, but Christian is right in that in and around Puerto Banus, where we are based,  there is little going on.  I'm not  convinced on driving to Mijas from where I live for a night out.  The best night for me at the moment is at Seven in Puerto Banus, so perhaps, rather than expecting people to travel the coast, the promoters could run nights in Banus, and then have a foothold for the summer when there's good money to be made?

    Just a thought...

Re: Nightlife In Marbella and Puerto Banus

Was pondering on replying to this earlier, we ran an event every Saturday in Banus at The Champagne Bar through the summer but eventually stopped due to low numbers, we also tried Sunday night in central Marbella at Buddha del Sol again very low numbers, Thursdays in the summer Fierce Angels @ Plato, ive also heard some great tunes at Puro Beach Thursday nights late August with barely no people. The port and the 2nd line do not really have promoters as people just go there anyway and seem to be satisfied with what they get there Linekers??? , big promotions like KM, Hed Kandi (Ministry of Sound cash cow), Sintillate (Sintillate in my opinion v poor music) etc only do events in the summer because thats when they make the most money and they are ran as businesses cos thats what they are. And in all fairness Nikki Beach would be busy without Sintillate and getting people to go to Dreamers is not rocket science these are just 2 examples of places people will go regardless of whats on. I dont put much info on here anymore because iv barely ever had a reply to any of the posts iv put up on here. Dont want to sound negative the idea of this site is great but with all the members seems to be only a dozen or so actually use it/contribute regularly. And La Cala is only 5 minutes or so past Nikki Beach :) I think the point Philippe is making is pretty simple, maybe just try some things that arent so mainstream and u might be pleasantly suprised. When summer comes round they either go with a big name (understandable i guess) or just get rid of promoters and take July/August money for themselves, classic case was Seven and Miss Moneypennys this year. Be nice if it was true though :)

Re: Nightlife In Marbella and Puerto Banus

I heard that next summer several new places are opening in Puerto Banus. At the Plaze de La Comedia. One company bought all te places there; Coyoye Ugly, Websters, Heaven, Devils, Zanzibar and the restaurants there. New places for young people are coming in that street. Supperclub is coming to Puerto Banus they say.

Maybe next time I have more information.

    Salud!

    Filed under:

I just bumped into Spencer from Sintillate. Apparently he is running a New Years Eve event is at News Cafe on the front line. When the Sintillate guys put a night on here it usually attracts great numbers and a good crowd of people.   I think most people will end up here around midnight to 2am then on to Seven.

Hi JeremyX, A lot of venues are closed at the moment but there are a few open such as Seven and Dreamers that you could maybe contact.

Also, has anyone else heard any updates on the new places rumoured to be opening in the port where Devils etc currently are?

Re: Nightlife In Marbella and Puerto Banus

to be honest - i think one of the big problems out here is that:

In england...people are happy to travel their bums off to go out to a good night...I remember spending up to 5 hours or so driving to a wicked club somewhere back in the UK because I knew i would be guaranteed a good night.

Over here, people only want to go to a club that they can walk to, or be driven to, and then get a cheap taxi home.

You cant blame the people in this situation...

In my opinion, the problem is, that a vast majority of the people who constantly go out in Banus:

    A) Havent heard of many of the places that are on offer elsewhere

    B) Cant be arsed to go, because alot of the time, the club is in an area with little else to offer

With regards to B, I completely understand what they are saying. If i go to a club, I like to go for a few drinks in nearby bars etc to get into the swing of things....and because the coast is such a long, thin, strip of development....many of the venues where small clubs are situated have very little in the shape of bars and clubs around them to act as pre bars...

This kind of thing will be resolved with time. In time, these smaller places with less people and less bars, will become bigger places, with more people and more bars as the area continues to develop...but in the mean time, its a case of well wishing punters spreading the word, and hard working promoters sticking at what they are doing!

Oh, and people just doing something different for a change!! Theres more to Spain than fast cars and posh swanky bars....
