IKEA in Malaga - my worst nightmare

It took me three hours today to buy six new office desks.  I expected to turn up, not having been to IKEA before now - with my credit card a delivery address..

It took me an hour and a half to place the order, an hour to find all the stuff in the warehouse (you have to do this yourself) and load it on the trolley and half an hour to pay and organise a delivery for today.

They still haven't arrived btw and its 8pm.  Great concept - but I think I lost a few years off my life today in stress in an effort to save a few quid.

LOL, If you think Malaga was bad you'd have a nervous breakdown at the Wembley Ikea... quite possibly the worst experience of my life!

    ROFL.

Welcome to the wonderful world I live in which is called "Honey. Can we go to Ikea on Saturday afternoon and buy some things for the living room?" only to get there to find that every other husband in the Costa del Sol area has also been dragged down there by their wives.

Yeah. IKEA. Its big but its not funny. (even less funny when you take the 2 year old nipper with you who has worse mood swings than her mum)

Only go there after downing a couple of 600mg nurofens and some deep breathing exercises.

Oh yes, IKEA in Malaga (and probably all other IKEA stores) is the least happy shopping experience EVER! Roaming around, completely lost in their massive warehouse, then standing in a queue for what seems like forever, only to get the damn flat-pack furniture home and spend another 2 hours trying to assemble it! Never again for me!

I guess it can be a nightmare there... but I must have gone on a good day. I must admit though I did turn up as the doors opened to beat the crowds, but it was still busy.

I had quite a good unstressful experience. I went with a mate to buy an office desk and he had been before so he knew where to head to without following the arrows so we took shortcuts through all the displays dodging the slow pace of everyone else. My mates Spanish is good too so we were able to sort out the right colours and whether is was in stock or not very quickly, we found the assistant very helpful.

As soon as we got down into the warehouse we located the flatpack and accessories fairly quickly... and job done!

So i guess the moral of the story is turn up early, go with someone who has been before and knows where the items are that you want.. and speaks Spanish.

I dont think I would go just to browse to see what they have cos if you follow the route with everyone else you have to pass almost everything in the store and it is very big... so I guess you could end up spending a fortune as you will be seeing things you want all through the store... but I assume thats the reason it was designed like that.

    Have to agree with pablobanus.

Went on a Saturday mid-morning, encounted really friendly staff, got everything we needed and only one person in front of us at the check-out.  Loaded up the Vogue and found the experience a lot nicer than that in the UK.

I think its a bit like the Easyjet blueprint. 'You get exactly what you pay for' and for fair value items it's perfect.  xx
