    Hi Matt,

I suppose it's a case of which sector youa re opening up in?. In all tourist areas there is a high turnover of businesses such as bars, restaurants and real estate companies, and Marbella is no different.

I agree with what you are saying regarding Puerto Banus and Marbella being quiet during the low season, this is the same each year. However, the example you give of El Jardin bar is an interesting one as it does not rely on tourist trade to stay busy 365 days per year. El Jardin appeals to the local crowd which exists in Aloha / Neuva Andalucia, and the tourist traffic is just a bonus.

The essence of my post is that, if you open a business that appeals to both locals and tourists in the right area, you still have a chance of success despite the reported economic slump. As for the bars, restaurants and retail stores in Puerto Banus and Marbella Marina, they can afford a slow winter, as Spring and Summer are so incredibly busy the owners are probably happy to get some rest!

    Christian
