Heard the advertising for the site on a local radio so I thought I would check it out. I cannot believe how slow the site is, every page takes a minimum of 15 seconds to load, sometimes much longer, this kills the user experience.

Friendly suggestion, get the hosting and code sorted before advertising or it will fail before it even really begins.

15 seconds load time you reporting looks a bit high. Most pages I try on the site load in 5 seconds max. You may need to check your internet connection and also try faster computer, YourMarbella code is quite complex both on server and browser side, you will find that faster machine will render pages much quicker.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using relatively high spec PC (AMD Athlon X2 6000 + CPU and 2Gb DDR2 800 memory. Internet connection is Telefonica ADSL 3Mbit. I use firefox as a browser but have the same delay in IE (15 - 18 seconds on EVERY page).

I've just IM'd a friend back in the UK who's on BT Broadband, he has the same load times as me. I'm curious, does anybody else experience the same slow load times for yourmarbella.com?

It must be your connection or slow computer, as my load is a maximum of 5 seconds for yourmarbella pages.

 Absolutely not, I think the YourMarbella concept is great and can become a highly useful resource here in Marbella, especially when you look at "the competition" which is pants!

 
Sorry for the new user name, my account got suspended, I'm sorry if I came across negative, it was more out of frustration at the waiting times for navigating the site.
 

Just seems odd that you had set up two accounts each with yourmarbella email addresses, and now another. If you wish to be a part of the community then great, join, submit your contact info, maybe a picture and a legitimate personal email address, then we can help you with your connectivity issues. 

We have implemented some advertiser code recently which may be causing a slow down as its pulling from external sources.  I will check into it regardless.

I'm just being cautious, whenever I join a new community I setup a free email address and moniitor for a few weeks to make sure it's not another spam magnet. The reason for two accounts, I made a typo and put .com instead of .co.uk.

No mal-intentions I promise, as I mentioned before, I think you are on to a good thing.

Mate, my screen loads in max.3 seconds if not like a blink in the eye. I just have so much crap in my drive, so now it takes a bit longer. Other than that, it's great! Perhaps the internet provider issue??

OK me bad, I've finally got to the route of my problem, it was the ADSL router which needed rebooting, now site loads quickly. Wierd that I only noticed the probelm here, other sites seemed fine, maybe they were slower too.

Thanks for all the responses, made me look back at my end when I was convinced it was a site problem, and sorry again if I came across high and mighty or anti yourmarbella, frustration brings out the worst in me i guess!
