    Serious gyms in Marbella

Hi all, are there any serious gyms with real Olympic bars, squat racks, etc..... in Marbella and I do not mean fitness, wellness BS?

    Regards Edmond.

Check out Oxigeno in La Canada... I go there and I think they've got just about every machine/ equipment you could ever need, plus very knowlegable trainers.  They've also got some good classes if you like that. Not so much focus on the wellness (spa's) like most "gyms" around here and more for fitness.  Also it's not so expensive as some of the other ones.

    Hi Edmond!

At Oxigeno we have Olympic bars and a big free weight area.

The gym has 35.000 sq ft and is very open and easy going.

The good thing is that you have parking and all shops right here.

We have a Terra Sana restaurant that make you everything from a protein shake up to a full healthy lunch.

If you want to find OXIGENO, just go onto the fist floor of the La Cañada shopping centre.

We are more or less above Zara.

Hope to see you soon here.

    Fab

    Hi Edmond,

Difficult to find any decent gyms with olympic bars. Oxigeno is a nice club but the bars are not what i would call Olympic. They are the tecqnogym equivalent-probably weighing 10kgs. The Olympic bar they did have bent(cheap alternative) .The Dumbbells only go up to 30kg. I was a member there for two years. They said they would get some boxing bags when i originally joined but they never materialized so i left.

Needs some improvements but still a nice place.

    Hope this helps

Does anyone on here use Platinum Gym at Cristamar? I know a few of our promotions team from last Summer were members there and I heard good things about it. Anyone got any comments ?

Edmond, I hope to find one in the next few weeks as I am re-locating...Im looking for something no frills but with good equipment...I dont want to pay €200 just because Antonio banderas might be in the saunas...so many of the gyms out here are stupidly expensive and badly equipped because people go more for a social event than to get fit!

Will post my findings as and when!

    Re: Serious gyms in Marbella

I worked at platinum gym for a year 2006 - 2007 and a lot of the big weight lifters did go there, as you might have heard it closed at the moment and I have bumped into a few members,l the boys have all joined Plaza Gym in Centro plaza  Nueva Andlucia (by the bull ring), for classes many have joined Qi ( old Vasari Gym) Gym which I have been a member of since August last year and Its very friendly and the classes are exellente. Its worth checking out.
