    Hiking in El Chorro

    Hi,

I plan to take a day trip to El Chorro over the weekend and I was wondering has anyone got any suggestions about which routes to take for a nice long hike? Has anyone ever been to El Chorro? Do you know any good places for hiking close by?

    Thanks. Smile

I went there last weekend, there were hundreds of hippys/travellers there!

Lots of organised tours but we just went off and followed the obvious routes on our own.. may I suggest giving the route along Caminito del Rey a miss as it looked a bit hardcore to me!

    Hi,

    these pics look fantastic.

where is El Chorro how would I get there from Marbella?

Besides rock climbing are there walking trails.

    thanks a lot,

    Re: Hiking in El Chorro

It's easy to get to and is up in the Malaga "Lake District", took me about an hour and a bit to get there doing a leisurely backroad drive

Lots of walking routes all over the place, I thought El Chorro was a little disappointing, travel further up to the main lakes and it's stunning

    Google maps helps - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=el+chorro,+spain&sll=37.160317,-95.712891&sspn=48.515277,81.738281&ie=UTF8&ll=36.956476,-4.794502&spn=0.192865,0.4319&z=12

    Re: Hiking in El Chorro

I ended up going last weekend and was a bit disappointed also to be honest. Not too much to see really.

Furthermore we walked the GR-7 and it was seriously tough... it was rated "medium" but we found it too difficult... I wouldnt like to see what "difficult" would be like... !!
