Abandoned equines need tender loving care
A little white mare has been taken in at the S.E.P.E. (Spanish Society for the Protection of Horses, Donkeys, and Mules) Alhaurín de la Torre sanctuary. They were asked to collect her by the Civil Guards after she had reportedly been abandoned near Casabermeja, tethered but with no shelter, grazing or water. Underweight, she did not have a microchip to locate the owner, as is often the case with abandoned equines; the owner would, of course, be liable for a fine if he ever claimed her, so that is unlikely. After being cleaned up and wormed, and put on a suitable diet, S.E.P.E. have named her Tulipán (Tulip) and feel she has a bright future. If anyone would like to sponsor this gentle mare, they should contact S.E.P.E. (info@sepeonline.net or www.sepeonline.net).
Some other recent arrivals at the centre had been reported to the Malaga police as wandering loose along the road. One of them, a small, four-year-old pony, was in a very pitiful condition, full of mange and undernourished but, given time, they are confident they shall manage to get him back to full health and he has been named Trueno (Thunder) for his playfulness. Again, like so many other animals at the sanctuary, he needs sponsors to help support him and visit him and put a little more TLC in his life.
